I love all the songs in Les Miserables and had no intent to record this but just switched on my flip video. Sometimes best that way. I think i will ask my brother Dennis to see if he'd be willing to do a real accompaniment. So it's a work in progress. My absolute favorite film version of Les Miserables is the one with Liam Neeson and Jeffrey Rush as the insane "to the letter of the law" Javert. The law is so unyielding that when Javert gives a break and does not arrest Jean Val Jean (our hero) yet again for stealing a loaf of bread over 20 years before he knows the only just punishment for his own empathy for the man is to kill himself. Insane. He cuffs himself with handcuffs and throws himself into the Seine. The man we have hated through the entire film is now understood, redeemed and even loved in our eyes. So powerful, it brings life to this work of Victor Hugo and the French Revolution that claimed so many lives for freedom.
